The big day is getting closer and closer - it is therefore very common that people start to think about little things. For example: What do I do with my engagement ring on the wedding day? Can I wear it alongside my wedding ring after the wedding? Is it better to take it off before the wedding or should I keep it on? And if so, on which hand?
There is no fixed rule on this subject, but there are 4 possibilities, which we are happy to share with you.
Many couples decide to exchange the engagement ring for the wedding ring. They take it from their left hand before the wedding ceremony. The wedding ring is placed on the ring finger of the right hand. The engagement ring goes into the jewellery box where it is kept to be passed on to the next generation.
It is similarly common to wear the engagement ring to the wedding and also afterwards. The engagement ring remains on the ring finger of the left hand and the wedding ring is worn on the right hand. This is particularly useful when the design of the two rings is very different.
Women often develop a strong emotional bond with the ring they received for their engagement, which is why it is not uncommon for women to continue wearing the ring after the wedding. For women who want to wear the engagement ring after the wedding, the engagement ring becomes a wedding ring. At the wedding ceremony the groom puts the ring from the left onto the right ring finger of the bride, who then wears even after the wedding.
A beautiful alternative: combine the engagement ring as a slip ring with the wedding ring. The wedding ring and engagement ring are chosen so that they fit together perfectly. You can then wear both rings on your right hand after the wedding.
